Talking Isn’t Always About the Story
December 23, 2025

Some people assume counseling is about retelling stories or analyzing events in detail. That can be part of it, but it isn’t always the point.
Often the issue is not the story itself, but how the body still reacts as if the moment is happening now. The goal becomes reducing that reaction so the memory can sit where it belongs – in the past, without continuing to intrude on the present.
Counseling can focus less on explanation and more on helping experiences finally settle.
Something here land close to home?
If any of this is familiar, it may be worth talking through.
